Denver City Crit

Rebranding a Denver Race with History

When the Bannock Street Criterium ran out of street, Front Range Cycling Club needed a new name and a logo that could carry a memorial without feeling like one.

Front Range Cycling Club brought me in to design the logo for the renamed Mike Nields Memorial Denver City Crit, picking up after Bannock Street Criterium outgrew its old course. The turnaround was tight, a week or two, and the brief was simple on paper: a mark that could hold a memorial name and a sponsor line without getting cluttered.

I sent over four concepts, ranging from classic crit graphics to something more modern and pared down. Front Range landed on the same one I would have picked. From there it turned into a small system: color variations, formats for jerseys and social, a set of avatars for event pages.

Four concepts, one round, no revisions.
