Creativity Challenge Community

C3 already had the reputation. The website just hadn't caught up.

C3 is a charter school built around creativity and hands-on learning, and none of that showed up on their website. The old site ran a stock theme: one banner photo, a block of text, the kind of page you forget the second you click away.

The Challenge

Built to Be Chosen, Not Assigned

C3 is a choice school. Parents have to actively pick it over their default neighborhood school, so the website carries real recruiting weight. A forgettable site works against a school whose whole identity is not being like every other school. The principal knew it. He just needed someone to fix it without turning it into a committee project.

The Solution

One Designer, Free Rein, In-Browser

I worked solo, building the visual system directly in the browser rather than mocking it up first: friendlier slab serif type, organic dividers, a color palette that actually matched a school calling itself creative. Once the principal approved the direction, we filled it in together, him supplying photos and copy edits, me rebuilding the page structure around an actual point of view instead of theme defaults.

The Results

Caught Up, and It Showed

No analytics dashboard here, just a principal telling me the new contact and tour-scheduling forms cut down the calls his office used to field for routine questions. The bigger shift was the site itself: it stopped undercutting the pitch he was already making to families touring the school.
