A Sushi Story

Sushi wasn’t an everyday thing for us growing up, but it was something special. My dad, who served in the Korean War and after lived in Japan, brought home a love of Japanese food—gyoza, tonkatsu, and of course, sushi. That early exposure planted the seed for my lifelong sushi obsession.

These days, my own family shares that love. We’ve only attempted making sushi at home a couple of times (turns out there’s a reason sushi chefs train for years), but whether it’s takeout on the couch or perched at the sushi bar, we’re always down for a plate of sashimi.

This print is my love letter to sushi—the perfect balance of art and food, simplicity and skill, tradition and creativity.
